A two-hour incident response primer
A practical, hands-on introduction to incident response. Small groups, real exercises, no commitment — leave with skills you can use the same day.
Incidents are inevitable. Panic isn't.
This two-hour session is for teams who want to build confidence without signing up for a longer engagement. We focus on the human side of response — clear thinking, clear communication, and clear authority when something breaks.
You'll leave with skills you can use immediately, and a sense of what good response feels like in practice.
Who are we?
We have led incident response in tech companies, emergency services, and event safety. Across every environment, the patterns hold. People make the same mistakes under pressure, whether they're in a software team or a flood zone.
What we teach — principled thinking, clear communication, structured decision-making — works everywhere. They aren't just relevant for incident response. They're just good life skills.
What we cover
Respond
How to start an incident, assign roles, make decisions under pressure, and keep communication kind, clear, and honest.
Prepare
Why planning matters more than plans. Documentation, escalation paths, and staying ready for the moment the incident hits.
Clean up
Never let an incident go to waste. Blameless post-mortems, capturing what you learned, and turning the experience into lasting improvement.
How it runs
The session mixes short bursts of teaching with hands-on training exercises. We keep the group small so everyone can participate.
About 50–60 minutes of content and exercises, a short break, then another 30–40 minutes plus time for questions.
We run it remotely or in person, depending on what works for your team.
Who it's for
Engineering teams at growing companies who are stepping into incident response for the first time — and teams who know their current process is brittle and want a better starting point.
No prior incident response experience needed. If your team deals with production incidents and wants to handle them more calmly, this is for you.
This is the starting point. We also run deeper sessions for teams ready to go further — multi-day training, full-scale tabletop exercises, and preparedness planning.
Not sure what you need? We can start with a readiness analysis of where your team stands today.
